My new favorite

I cannot recommend this ink highly enough! The pictures do not do it justice.

I got this as a random sample, and absolutely plan to buy a full bottle. The ink goes down as a sort of olive green, but dries to a warm brown. With a medium nib I get some nice shading, as well as a slight coppery sheen in the more saturated areas.

This ink is dark enough to be very legible, and its neutral color makes it professional enough for most settings. The gentle sheening keeps it interesting without being distracting, and there's so much depth to the color.

Worth noting that like many sailor inks it does have a noticeable and slightly unpleasant smell, but it fades and I don't find it particularly bothersome.

Haiku #1

It really is quite a fun brown with a lovely dark green tint. It reminds me most of the moss-flecked loamy soil you find under old trees in the forest, or very much like the color of an olive in a dimly lit room.

We'll worth the hassle of changing your ink.

Love this ink!

I can't explain why, but I love this ink. I've been on a big brown ink kick lately and this one seemed olive green sometimes and brown other times. I am currently using it a lot in my Leuchtturm 1917 journal and it looks more green on that paper but definitely has some brown in it on Tomoe River Paper. Either way, they are great Earth tones that stand out well on any type of paper. It flows nicely out of my Kaweco AL Sport, medium nib. I'm very happy to have this ink!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill my fountain pen from an ink sample vial? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

The technique depends on the fountain pen's filling mechanism.

Check out our blog post on How to Fill a Fountain Pen from an Ink Sample Vial, or watch the video here:

How much writing can I really do with 2ml? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

We find that usually you can get 2 good fills for a typical converter with our ink samples, or one good fill with a large capacity piston-filling pen.

How much writing you can do depends on you more than anything else. It mostly depends on how big or small you write, and the nib size you’re using. We recommend experimenting with different nib sizes to find what works best for you.
