This is a very interesting ink color!

This Lamy ink is a very interesting color. It's hard to say what color it is, really. It's not a blue/black. It is nice looking on the page whatever color it is!

Lamy Petrol ink

I was happy to see Lamy reintroduce this ink. I bought a Lamy Petrol pen after it was introduced, but didn't buy ink at the time, assuming that it would continue to be available as part of Lamy's ink inventory. I was planning to buy some later, as I really liked the color, but was already stocked up with blue inks. I was disappointed when Lamy actually DID discontinue the color. I was happy when they brought it back, and immediately got a bottle. It is an attractive, "professional" dark blue, and flows well; I'm using it in my Lamy Petrol pen, where it is an excellent match.

Great Ink - As expected

The ink is exactly as I wanted in my Lamy Al-Star extra-fine point. No shimmer or smell. Love the blue-greenish color.

Much darker than I thought…added distilled water for 5:1 ratio…now it shows that woderful color

It’s baa-aaack!,

When Lamy released Petrol Safari pens and then Petrol AL-Safari pens, many of us thought we’d died and gone to pen heaven. Until they stopped producing the inks! People who had squirreled away a box or two of cartridges were selling them for exorbitant prices on places like eBay! I wrote to them—as I’m sure many of you did and it was, well, limited is limited…grrrr. But now they release the bottled version like it’s something new. Whatever. For access to this, I’m willing to pretend to be gaslighted (gaslit?)! So happy it’s back and it’s beautiful!

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
