Two very different Sapphire Blues – both great inks

I purchased samples of two blue inks at the same time, both called Sapphire Blue. However, the inks are very different (as are sapphires!). I really like both inks, and have ordered a bottle of each.

I would probably use the more subdued and beautiful Sapphire (TWSBI) for a sympathy card. Good for workplace use, also. I filled my Lamy Azure AL-star with it and I am very happy with its performance. Also, as it seems to dry faster, would use it in applications where dry time and paper or cardstock might be an issue.

The bolder Sapphire, by Diamine, is much more saturated, much brighter, and takes longer to dry. The color really pops. I’ve filled my Benu Briolette Storm with it. When a clear, vivid color is desired, this ink is a great choice.

Both inks are very reasonably priced, so you might want to do what I did and order a bottle of each.

Very nice Ink

This is a very nice ink, it is a beautiful Medium Blue with good flow qualities. I really like this ink, especially in pens with a little larger nib, or perhaps a stub.

Solid color; smooth writing

The Sapphire Blue ink is a great match for my new TWSBI ECO Smoke Rose/Gold Medium. I have been enjoying it since it arrived and hope to for many years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which pens can accept this ink? 8EDA1617-F73A-4DAF-8245-6D2BF4ABEB7B

Any of these fountain pens will work with bottled ink. Typically, as long as the pen can be filled with a converter, has a built-in filling mechanism like a piston, or can be eyedropper-filled, it can accept bottled ink. You can also refill an empty ink cartridge from bottled ink using an ink syringe.
